Cookie Policy

Effective date: May 2026

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember certain information about your visit — like your preferences or which pages you viewed — so the experience works properly and can be improved over time.

Some cookies are set directly by us ("first-party cookies"). Others are set by third-party services we use, like Google Analytics and Meta Pixel ("third-party cookies").

What Cookies We Use

Here's a plain breakdown of the cookies set when you visit socialmd.co:

Cookie / Tool Type Purpose Duration
_ga, _ga_* Analytics Google Analytics — tracks page views, sessions, and anonymous traffic behavior to help us understand what content is useful. Up to 2 years
_fbp, _fbc Advertising Meta Pixel — tracks visits and conversions for Facebook and Instagram advertising. Used to measure ad effectiveness and build retargeting audiences. Up to 90 days
Session cookies Functional Temporary cookies that maintain basic site functionality during your visit (e.g., form state, navigation). Deleted when you close your browser. Session only
Netlify cookies Functional Set by our hosting provider (Netlify) for site performance, CDN routing, and form submission handling. Varies

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our site. This includes pages visited, time on site, referral source, and device type. This data is aggregated and anonymous — Google Analytics does not identify you personally.

Google Analytics data is processed by Google and governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Meta Pixel

We use the Meta Pixel (also called the Facebook Pixel) to measure the effectiveness of our advertising on Facebook and Instagram. When you visit our site, the Pixel may record that visit and associate it with your Facebook or Instagram account if you're logged in.

This allows us to show ads to people who've visited our site, and to measure how many visitors take action after seeing an ad. Meta's use of this data is governed by Meta's Privacy Policy.

To opt out of interest-based advertising from Meta, visit your Facebook Ad Preferences.

How to Control Cookies

You have several options for managing cookies:

  • Browser settings — all modern browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Doing so may affect how our site functions. Instructions for major browsers:
    • Google Chrome
    • Mozilla Firefox
    • Apple Safari
    • Microsoft Edge
  • Google Analytics opt-out — use the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on for your browser
  • Meta ad preferences — manage interest-based ads in your Facebook/Instagram ad settings
  • Industry opt-outs — visit aboutads.info or networkadvertising.org for broader digital advertising opt-outs

Do Not Track

Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Our site does not currently change its behavior in response to DNT signals, as there is no industry-wide standard for how to honor them. We'll update this policy if that changes.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as our tools or practices change. The effective date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
